On Monday the children learnt about heat, conduction, conductors, insulators and radiation. As some children in the class had not been camping I thought we would incorporate the experience of cooking without electricity. The children put rocks around the edge to stop the fire from spreading, collected wood, bark, sticks and leaves. Newspaper was added for lighting the fire and crepe paper flames. We lit our fire with imaginary matches and cooked our sausages, of course we ate them when we were finished. We were lucky enough to cook the day before the fence went up and the builders moved in. Our camp fire is still in one piece. More photos to come when I get them off the iPads, we had wonderful class photographers.
